Welcome To The Problems and Projects Debt Story Introduction
Hello, readers! This is Mrs. P&P, and this is our debt story.
I haven’t always carried debt. In fact, I’ve moved through many stages in my financial life. At one time, I held no debt due to having no credit. Later, I had maxed out all my cards. I’ve gone through years where I paid for enormous expenses entirely out of pocket. Then, there were years where I’ve taken out loans and quit answering my phone because I simply couldn’t settle my debts.
I’ve felt like I was drowning in debt with no sign of the shore. Once, I got to experience the joy of paying off all my consumer debt. I’ve been everywhere from homelessness to saving half my monthly income. I even got a month ahead of my bills on a low income.
Here at Problems and Projects, I want to share with you all about where my family is currently residing on the road to financial freedom and what we’re doing to reach our goals. I encourage you to join us along the way.
So, Where Are We?
Right now, we are slowly sinking into that deep, dark money pit! I know what you must be thinking. Why would you want to hear what I have to say about finances?Well, it’s because I’m not too worried. Just two years ago, Mr. P&P and I had just finished paying off tens of thousands in consumer debt. Then, we paid for a two month trip across Spain entirely in cash. We did this in a year.
I know what it’s like to set, plan for, and achieve big goals. But I also know what it’s like for life to happen and send all your hopes and dreams crumbling to the ground. Sometimes, we just need a little help and guidance to get back on our feet. It’s not always entirely our fault that things pan out the way they do. We also have a lot of control over our circumstances, even when it doesn’t feel that way. So, my goal is to share our debt story with you as we work our way back out of debt and set our next big goal
Guys. I’m currently in this position because Life. Has. Happened. In a big way. Over the past couple years, we had a baby through a complicated (and expensive) delivery process. Then, we bought a fixer-upper that turned out to be a total lemon. Those two changes alone have taken us right back to that point of struggle.

I’ve got great ideas to share with you about how we save money while living life only a little to the extreme! We’ll also look at how to set goals together and make choices about what we are willing (and unwilling) to do to make it happen.
In the coming weeks, be on the lookout for a monthly budget and debt report where I will share our income, spending, and total debt. Then, we’ll kick off September with a low spend month goal, which we’ve never done before!
