I love zombie movies. It’s my ultimate cinema fear, and I can’t help but feed my morbid curiosity! However, I’m also a big advocate for emergency preparedness. I know you guys are, too, because there’s always a big interest in my preparedness content. For the 6th Day of Blogmas, I’d like to offer up my favorite zombie survival gift ideas for non preppers.

Zombie Survival Gift Ideas for Book Worms

I didn’t initially plan to make a whole section of just books, but the apocalypse survival genre has really expanded! You’ll find ideas here for survivalists, families with kids, practical preppers, and a little bit of comedy, too!

The Zombie Survival Guide by Max Brooks

Functional survival ideas with a hilarious zombie spin. This is a great gift for a zombie lover or as a prepper gift that’s not too serious.

Also available for Kindle and Audiobook.

The Art of Eating Through the Zombie Apocalypse by Lauren Wilson

Another fun survival book filled with practical survival knowledge. Perfect if you want to encourage someone to start preparing for emergencies in a more exciting way.

Also available on Kindle

Only Dead on the Inside by James Breakwell

The zombie apocalypse parenting guide you need but never asked for! Surviving the apocalypse is way different when you’ve got your own little monsters!

Also available on Kindle and Audiobook.

40 Projects for Building Your Backyard Homestead by David Toht

If you’ve got a loved one with homesteader dreams, this book gives step by step directions for how to set up a variety of homesteader essentials with easy to follow directions and color photographs.

Mother Nature is Not Trying To Kill You by Rob Nelson

While most of us will never face a piranha attack or get lost at sea, if you’ve got an adventurer on your list, this one’s a fun read, and I’m sure if you can fight off a shark or survive an arctic winter, you can fight off zombies, too.

Budget Friendly Zombie Survival Gift Ideas

The Zombie Survival Deck

If you’re looking for something silly, but also practical, look no further. These cards include functional, creative survival ideas, just with a zombie spin. Essentially an abridged version of the Zombie Survival Guide listed above.

Handheld Knife Sharpener

Looking for cheap stocking stuffers that will help you keep your zombie killing knives ready? We all have kitchen knives and pocket knives that get dull over time. This is one of our favorite practical gifts we’ve received, and we use it all the time.

6 Variety Herbal and Medicinal Tea Seeds

It might be the end of the world, but you can still enjoy a hot cup of tea … if you’ve got the seeds to grow it! If you’ve got a tea lover in your life, give them the gift of learning to grow their own. Contains chamomile, lavender, mint, lemon balm, peppermint, purple coneflower echinacea.

A combination folding pocket knife and multitool

Does anyone else love receiving Christmas knives? Just me? I love this one because you get the dual benefits of a multitool and a pocket knife for a very reasonable price. Comes with 8 different tools, including an 8 piece screwdriver bit set and a durable belt pouch for carrying.

6-in-1 key shaped keychain multitool

This one won’t make it by Christmas, but it’s my most used emergency tool, and I love it. It fits right on your keychain and has lots of useful little tools. If you need a late Christmas gift, birthday present, Valentine’s Day gift, or you’re stocking up for next Christmas, give this a look.

Rechargable Batteries and Charger

Sometimes prepping means being ready for the little emergencies in life. You can guarantee that someone will receive a gift that requires batteries, and nobody will have any. Be the hero of the holidays this year.

Moderately Priced Mayhem Readiness

Emergency Car Kit

I’ve spoken in the past about the importance of emergency kits, and I continue to stand by them! Especially on the road, an emergency kit saves lives! This kit makes a great gift for a high schooler or college kid who’s recently started driving or a family member who doesn’t have an emergency car kit yet. Don’t get swarmed by the hoards on the road!

144 Hour Self Extinguishing Beeswax Candle

When the zombies overtake the grid, you’ll want easy access to a light source! These candles look super unique, burn clean, and can be adjusted to self extinguish after a certain burn time. Never worry about forgetting candles and burning down your house again. You can also grab wax spiral refills here

Complete Seed Sprouting Kit

Give the gift of nutritious garden produce without a garden. Even someone with zero gardening skills can grow healthy micro greens a matter of days to weeks. The kit contains everything needed for making food while hunkering down in a relatively zombie free zone. Or, you know, growing micro greens.

A Water Bath Canner and Canning Supplies

Water bath canning is simple and a great way to explore food preservation

A Cuddly Throw Blanket

I used to think you could have too many throw blankets. Then I spent a week in a drafty rat hole with busted heat and a hospitalized spouse in below freezing temperatures. The first time I woke up in a 50 degree house, I no longer thought you could own too many throw blankets.

An Emergency Radio/Flashlight

Make sure your loved ones can hear emergency weather broadcasts, charge a cell phone, and see in the dark with a decent quality emergency radio

A Sturdy, Reliable Flashlight

You can never have too many flashlights lying around. This one is great because it can also be used to club zombies while signaling the space station. Survival tools should always be multipurpose!

Survival Splurges for Rocking the Apocalypse

12 Piece Gardening Toolkit and a collection of veggie and herb seeds

Encourage a little self sufficiency without the zombie themes by gifting a garden set and seeds for an aspiring green thumb in your life. They’ll have plenty of seeds and tools to get them started!

Gravihttps://amzn.to/3m36FuDty Water Filter

A staple item for the off-grid lifestyle, a gravity water filter can be used to filter questionable water sources when bottled or tap water isn’t available/safe. Requires no electricity, so it’s perfect for camping, power outages, and the end of the world as we know it.

Portable Sun Oven

My biggest emergency scenario concern is cooking meals. A sun oven allows you to cook meals even without electricity. In fact, it doesn’t even have to be warm outside to work. This one’s also portable and packable. Great for camping, long term power outages, and enjoying a pot of soup even after the zombies take over.

Cast Iron Skillets or a Cast Iron Pot

Really good cast iron cookware should be on every survivalists Christmas list. It’s durable and versatile, works better when you don’t clean it, and busts zombie skulls just as well as it cooks over an open campfire.

An Amazon Prime Membership

A Prime membership offers free two day shipping on tons of survival staples, which is always good news. However, you can also access a wealth of free and cheap books for Kindle and a plethora of disaster and post apocalyptic movies your loved ones can enjoy as they prepare for the zombie apocalypse.

These are some great items! We have a set up similar to the emergency radio/flashlight that you shared for when we’re camping. We only tent camp, so there’s no hydro involved. That being said, we like some of the ‘perks’ such as listening to the radio and charging our phones.

I love the parallels between camping and preparedness! There are always some gems to find!
